A system for addressing and controlling a gaseous discharge display or memory device is adapted for intercommunication between a processor or controller and a gaseous discharge display device. Signals of write amplitude are selectively applied to ionize individual cells or a plurality of cells in the form of character slices or lines to form the elements of a display. To facilitate communication between low level control logic signals and high level write and sustain signals, one of the axes or sets of conductors is maintained at ground potential, while signals of full write or sustain amplitude are applied to the orthogonal conductors. Writing is generally accomplished by adding a write pulse to the trailing edge of the selected conductor. By maintaining the busier axis at ground potential direct communication between the control logic and drive circuitry is provided, the isolation circuits required to communicate between the busy axis and the controller or processor are eliminated, the separate sustain drivers normally required to sustain the busy axis are eliminated and only a single set of drivers and isolation circuitry is required to interconnect the control logic to the drive selection circuitry. A device for displaying information is known, which contains an array of gas discharge elements, a control unit, selectors and logic circuits l. The closest in technical essence to the invention is a device for displaying information- containing a matrix of gas-discharge elements, the horizontal tires of which are connected to the first outputs of the first selector, the vertical tires - to the outputs of the second selector, the control unit, the first input and output of which are connected respectively to the second output and the first input of the first selector, the second output with the input of the first generator of rectangular pulses, the third output with the input of the address block, the output of which is connected to the first the input of the second selector, the second input of which is connected to the output of the first generator of rectangular pulses {2. The disadvantage of such devices is their complexity. The aim of the invention is to simplify the device. The goal is achieved by the fact that the device contains a second generator of rectangular pulses, the input of which is connected to the fourth output of the control unit, the first and second outputs respectively to the third inputs of the first and second selectors. The block diagram of the device is shown in the drawing. The device comprises a first selector 1, an array of gas-discharge elements 2, a second selector 3, an address 5 block, a first 5 and a second 6 square pulse generators, and a control unit 7.
